Extend the Fun
For younger kids: On the back of your bookmark, draw a character from outer space. Ask your parents to help you learn more about the astronauts; do any of them have a name like yours? Write your name and their name on your bookmark.
For older kids: What’s it like to live aboard the International Space Station for a year? As a family, read aloud excerpts from Scott Kelly’s book, Endurance: A Year in Space, A Lifetime of Discovery, to find out. Then ask each other: “If you were going to live on the space station, name 5 things you’d want to take with you.” Compare your choices with those of your friends and family.
